Step 6. Training Academy

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office conducts its own training academy for law enforcement officers throughout the state. It is certified by the Louisiana Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council and will instruct you in all the basic skills you will need to become a successful law enforcement officer. You will live on-campus during your training which will last about 12 weeks, with free weekends. Areas of study will include:
